The architecture in the above 2 photos is the Parliament House. I took the photo because this building holds a great role in our country and society of Singapore and I want to show the magnificent of the building. I made use of the technique frame within a frame and the rows of coconut trees that form linear lines to show the depth of the place. The building has vertical lines (from the trees, flagpoles, gates) that signifies strength and power. The building also has some horizontal lines which signifies stability and therefore reflect the stability, power and strength of our parliament.
The top picture is the day shot and the bottom picture is the night shot. The reason why I took this photo is because although many of us do walk through this walkway, but most of us do not stop and glance and look at how this walkway actually created an optical illusion. The day shot actually created a "more zoom out feeling" compared to the night shot which gives a "more zoom in feeling" due to the frame within a frame technique. The railings on the 2 sides creates linear lines which brings the viewer "in" and "out" of the walkway in the 2 interior shots. The day shot shows more light rays coming in and shone onto the floor which forms a boxing effect. It creates an optical illusion feeling.
