This is a watch that I always wear to school. In the first photo, the light source was shone onto the watch from the bottom left and second photo from the top right (rembrant lighting). The reason why I chose these two angles is so that it creates a shadow at an oblique angle.
The above photo was taken using the following rules of photography:
* Filling the frame: there is no complicated background, just purely plain and this allows the viewer to focus only on the watch and not dsitracted by anything else.
* Negative Space: there is nothing at the background other than the watch. This allows the person who view this photo to focus on the watch - the shadow, the second, hour and minute hand as well as every single design and pattern of the 12 hour markings. This gives the photo a sense of simplicity and the simplicity is further enhanced by the simple design and pattern of the watch and with this photo that is taken in black and white, it gives a timeless look. It does not tell us the date and if the time shown on the watch is in the day or night.
* Rule of thirds: The watch was taken off-centre.
* Diagonal rule: The shadow was formed at an oblique angle.
